About MaggotKibble
Statement
I create character designs and narrative illustrations using mixed media consisting of digital drawing software, markers, pencils and pens. I aim to make people who feel isolated or different see their invisible struggles reflected in my work and embraced.
To achieve this, my art utilizes cute anthropomorphic animals that have their anatomical traits combined with those of insects, crustaceans or other visual motifs considered less endearing by the average person. The reason for this is simple: the alienation I experience due to my identity as someone neurodivergent and queer align with how people treat "creepy crawlies" that make them irrationally uncomfortable. Through my art, I choose to embrace myself by illustrating that intangible feeling.
Biography
Maggot (it/its) is a Massachusetts-based contemporary artist that grew up posting its art online since childhood. In 2018, it graduated with an Associate in Fine Art from Mount Wachusett Community College. When it is not creating, Maggot takes care of a spoiled parrot who loves to watch it play video games & watch scary movies.
Currently, Maggot draws anthropomorphic animals who have body parts replaced or enhanced with insect features or other motifs. It creates both digitally and traditionally using Clip Studio Paint, alcohol markers, and colored pencils. Using MaggotKibble as an online handle, it currently works with clients through VGen and posts its original art on social media.
